Principal photography has begun on the new comedy web series entitled, REALITY SETS IN.
LJ Strong is producing the “40 something” comedy written by New York playwright Scott Brooks and famed daytime actress Lauren B. Martin (Guiding Light, All My Children, As the World Turns). Martin also stars opposite leading man Oliver Vaquer (Jane the Virgin).
The first five episodes are directed by Lee Beran of Chesterfield Entertainment.
REALITY SETS IN is not just another Single in New York City comedy.
Laney and Clarence are heartbroken, lost and afraid. Luckily, they have not lost their sense of humor or each other. This is an unflinching, unblinking look at two people who have been chewed up and spit out by show business, love and time.
The down and out pair are looking for that fictional love story version of New York that only exists on the screen. When they become the subject of an over-the-top reality show, the stakes are raised for them exponentially.
REALITY SETS IN is set to debut this fall on streaming platforms to be announced.
This summer I had the pleasure of working with Domenica Cameron-Scorsese, daughter of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. “Captain of the Land of Make Believe” marks Domenica’s feature film directorial debut. I’ve worked on many low-budget features but until now I had never worked with a director who cared so much about what she was doing and who she was working with.
The film is currently in post and there will more updates to come.
The past few weeks have been incredibly exciting for me. I was able to direct and produce back-to-back short films. First up was a comedy written by Shahn Christian Andersen and Mike Natale entitled “Lack of Will”. The story centers on a group of high school coaches who have all grown up together and now teach at the same school. A former childhood friend, “Will Anderson”, has just been hired as the schools new math teacher. However, the coaches aren’t happy because their pal is a disgraced NFL footballer who’s considered to be a social pariah. I had the pleasure of working with some great actors, including former New York Giant Tiki Barber. This film was shot at a real high school in lower Manhattan.
Second, I had the honor to direct a short film entitled “Like Me”. That story touched upon a very important topic, bullying. The script was written by a SUPER talented actress named Amanda Bear. We shot this film over the course of two days at a high school in New Jersey.
Both films are in post-production and should be ready for the world soon. I can’t wait!!!
I am beginning preproduction on a new short film entitled “Lack of Will”. The script has been written by Shahn Christian Andersen, Who played Lenny and Cigarette Soup. The script is cowritten by a young LIU Post grad, Mike Natale.
I hope to have more casting news and updates regarding this production very soon.
